The DCI would like to congratulate Eli Shiffrin for advancing to Level Three; and Ingrid Lind-Jahn and Carlos Ho for advancing to Level Four.
If you have ever read a new set FAQ, chances are that you've seen Eli Shiffrin's name there. Ditto for MTGSalvation's Cranial Extraction. Indeed, it's well known that Eli is a rules guru, but what many others might not know is how the passion that made him study the rules so hard has taken him to do many other things for the judge program. Over the past few years, Eli has worked extensively in Arizona to build a judge community by mentoring and testing new L1 judges. He'll now have the chance to mentor others in that same task, by certifying new L2 judges in his area. When not growing his local community, Eli will keep editing the judge articles that we've all come to love. His work as one of the editors makes articles possible.
Herding judges is only slightly less difficult than herding cats, but no one makes it seem easier than Ingrid Lind-Jahn. Rising from the one of the cradles of judging civilization — Madison, Wisconsin — Ingrid took immediate hold of several high-profile projects, such as the Judge Pyramid and the Pro Tour Judge Video series, seamlessly integrating them into modern judge culture. The impact of her work coalescing disparate elements of the DCI Family into a cohesive unit will be felt in the program for years to come.
Carlos Ho has taken the term "road warrior" to such extremes, we might have to retire it. He's actually become more of an "air warrior," logging countless thousands of miles in pursuit of joining together the DCI Family. Not merely content with with unifying all of Latin America, Carlos then moved his considerable influence to the Iberian Peninsula and is now working his magic in Europe. With nearly 50 premier events since 2005, Carlos has become one of the steadying influences on both the Grand Prix and Pro Tour Circuits, a voice of wisdom and of reason, who will help lead the DCI Family into the next generation.
