Into the Future

As the responsibilities of the WotC Community Organizer changes, so will the responsibilities of the high-level Judges.  Level 5s will be called on to set and implement the vision of the program as it moves into the future, taking on many of the tasks traditionally performed by the Judge Manager.

Think of the Judge Program as a corporation.  The Level 5s are like the Board of Directors.  The Level 4s are the Vice Presidents, each responsible for a specific program or perhaps geographic region.  Level 3s are the Directors, who run various regional departments.  This is the first level where the work of one person might be identical to that of another person situated elsewhere.  Level 2 are the Managers, with smaller teams with more narrowly-focused tasks.  Level 1s are the backbone of the corporation, the employees who carry out the day-to-day work.

So what’s that mean behind the veil?  It means that the L5s as a whole and individually will take specific responsibility for program areas such as Community Outreach, DCI Policy, Judge Acquisition, Pro Tour Sponsorship, High-Level Assignments, the Judge Center, the Translation Team, Articles, Judge Conferences, Level 3 Training, and more, and in coordination the Community Organizer (our “man on the inside”), make things happen.  The Level 4 Community will be asked to add their skill and experience the effort, providing their insight and advice and frequently taking on the responsibility making sure individual program areas succeed.

There are exciting things afoot for the future of the program.  The high-level community will be there, on behalf of all of you, making sure that we experience them and enjoy them all as one DCI Family.
